I am a full time student with only 2 years of experience. However, I have found that when it comes to using technology teachers/instructors/facilitators have to be clear whether the technology is a tool for learning the content of the course or if the objective is to learn how to use the technology. At my undergrad university learners received hands on training for the LMS before the course began. I guess for global courses or distance courses simulations could be used.
